Top 5 Tips for Creating SEO Friendly Content

By Alessandra Ceresa

One of the top trends in SEO is content creation. The content you publish on your websites, blogs, and social media play a large part in your SEO, so you want to make sure you are doing it right.

Here are 5 tips for developing SEO friendly content

  1. Select the right keywords: The keywords you select for your business are going to play a very important role in SEO. Think about keywords that are relevant to your business, and words that are search-related to your target market. Remember, that your competition is probably using very similar keywords, so try to be specific and detailed when brainstorming the words you want to use.
  2. Use keywords carefully: Now that you have chosen your keywords, make sure you can seamlessly insert them into your content. You do not want your keywords to sound forced or misplaced.

A few pieces of advise:

Do not stuff your content with keywords. Search engines may penalize you for doing this.

 > Make sure to place important keywords in the first sentence/paragraph of your content. The sooner you mention your keywords, the better.

  1. Write relevant content: Do not try and fool search engines. They know whether the content your right is relevant to what your page is about or not. Always write content that is relevant to your topic/industry. Write for your audience, and become an expert on your topic. The more content you have about the same subjects, the more likely search engines will recognize your website as a legitimate source of information for that industry.

Writing valuable and relevant content is not only great for your search engine ranking, but also the best way to keep people on your website and coming back for more.

  1. Use lists instead of long paragraphs: If you had only a few minutes to peruse through a website would you rather read a long paragraph or skim through bullet points? Bullet points, right? Make your content easy to read and understand in a short amount of time. This increases the chance that your reader will not only actually read what you’ve written, but are more likely to stay on your site and come back for more information. Using bullet points also enables you to plugin your keywords more frequently than long sentences and paragraphs.
  2. Use links wisely: Just like keywords, you do not want to flood your content with links, however it is wise to link to other parts of your website. Just make sure that the pages your link to are relevant to the topic you’re writing about. Another thing to keep in mind is to include keywords in your links. Instead of using ‘Click Here’, swap it out with the title to that page or content. If that title contains a keyword, even better!

It is more important than ever to write copy that is SEO friendly. Such a large part of SEO relies on it. We know you’ve heard in a million times, but content really is KING.
