How GreenRope Keeps Your Data Secure

GreenRope is a safe-haven for your data. We take your privacy, and the privacy of your contacts very seriously.

Part of our process of protecting your data is to back everything up every single day and synchronize it to a secure offsite location. In addition, our network is 100% safe thanks to it being monitored regularly and scanned for vulnerabilities and anomalies across our network. To further ensure the tightest possible security we only grant prevailed members of the GreenRope team privileged access to this information.

GreenRope systems are also protected by Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attacks by using a content delivery network (CDN).

More ways GreenRope Helps keep your data secure

Password Expiration

Automatically set your GreenRope account password to expire after 30, 60, 90, 180, or 360 days. Enabling this safeguard into your account will force all users, including shared access users, to update their passwords before entering the account.

2FA and Authenticator App

Two-Factor Authentication is an easy way of securing your account.

GreenRope also offers an Authenticator application, this allows you to scan a QR Code presented during 2FA configuration to generate the code for you, instead of having to wait for an SMS message. Some additional Authenticator applications you may consider using:

Google Authenticator for Android, iOS
Authy for Android
Authenticator+ for Windows Phone

Account Locking Features

We give you the option to lock your account down, which will require the 2FA authentication for ANY user logging into your account.  We also give clients the option to “Lockdown Access to IP Addresses” in the account settings to restrict access to your account to only specific IP addresses.

Free SSL Security

SSL certified websites have a visible browser security lock, instilling trust in your brand. GreenRope offers free SSL security for all custom websites created in our system. An SSL certificate ensures your customer’s personal information and credit cards are protected when visiting your site.

Best practices

Backup your data

Keep your data safe by always maintaining an up to date backup of your contacts and all associated information. Storing your data somewhere other than your main computer or workplace will also help protect it against flood, fire, or loss.

Review and restrict access

Shared access permission allows you to grant and restrict access to your account which gives staff a high level of flexibility when working within your account with your secure data. However, if those permissions are not managed properly, that flexibility can easily turn into a large threat to the safety of your data. We always suggest only giving a small group of authorized personnel the ability to view and edit your organization's and contacts’ critical information.

With various options like shared access users, power users, and super users we make it easy to start with giving only your most trusted admins and system administrators access to your account’s most sensitive areas. From there we suggest working backwards to grant access rights to only the absolute minimum required to perform their jobs.

Invest in internal training

Even the most secure systems need to be used properly to be effective. More often than not, it is actually the staff that are, inadvertently, the biggest threat to your security. Taking the steps to invest in your staff to be properly trained on how GreenRope works in order to protect sensitive data is something that needs to be high on your security agenda.

Everyone in your organization should be hyper aware of your internal best practices to help identify threats that could potentially wreak havoc on your business.

Keep your passwords strong

Unfortunately it is very easy, and all too common, for staff to often take short-cuts, like reusing the same or obvious, hackable, password. Implementing password policies or using a password management application such as Bitwarden or can help to avoid security risks. Another good password policy is to force a password change every 30-90 days.
